Jimmy Connor

Founder & Managing Partner | Bloor Street Capital | Uranium-focused mining interviewer and host

"Multi-day Virtual Uranium Conferences and long-form CEO interviews on the Bloor Street Capital YouTube channel."

Interviewer

Biography

Jimmy Connor is the founder and Managing Partner of Bloor Street Capital, a Toronto-based financial media and capital-markets advisory firm that has become one of the most-watched channels for retail investors following the uranium and broader resource sectors. He is the principal host of the Bloor Street Capital YouTube channel and the "Growing and Protecting My Wealth" podcast, where he has built a library of nearly 500 long-form interviews with mining executives, fund managers, and commodity strategists.

Before launching Bloor Street Capital, Connor spent more than a decade in capital markets at multinational firms including CIBC, working in trading and institutional coverage. That institutional background shows in his interview style: he presses guests on production guidance, offtake terms, balance-sheet runway, and the small print of regulatory filings rather than chasing promotional narratives, and the resulting catalog is regularly used by self-directed resource investors as primary research on individual companies and on commodity-cycle calls.

Connor is best known in commodity circles for his deep focus on the uranium thesis. He hosts the recurring Bloor Street Capital Virtual Uranium Conference, a multi-day event that has run at least four editions and has featured leadership from Kazatomprom, Cameco, enCore Energy, Denison Mines, UEC, Ur-Energy, Premier American Uranium, Verdera Energy, and Sprott Asset Management. The conferences have been promoted by the World Nuclear Association and have become a regular fixture in the uranium calendar alongside his one-off CEO interviews.

For a resource investor, the value of following Connor is a steady, executive-level view of the uranium supply-demand picture, layered with adjacent coverage of gold, silver, copper, lithium, and critical minerals. His interviews emphasize what management is actually doing — drilling, permitting, financing, and building offtake — over the macro narrative of the week, which is why both juniors and majors keep coming back to his channel.

Sprott's Rare Earth Ex-China ETF REXC | Steve Schoffstall and Jimmy Connor

Sprott's Rare Earth Ex-China ETF REXC | Steve Schoffstall and Jimmy Connor

host Jul 18, 2026
  • Top takeaway The host frames scarcity of critical resources — uranium, lithium, copper, and rare earths — as one of the most important supply-side issues facing governments today.
  • He highlights the dysprosium price move from about $100/kg to $900/kg as evidence that China's export restrictions are creating a strong investment case for rare earths.

Sprott's Steve Schoffstall outlines REXC, a rare earths ex-China ETF holding 34 companies screened from ~1,000 miners for >=50% rare earth revenue. China now controls about 69% of rare earth mining and over 90% of refining and magnet production, prompting Western reshoring investment. Dysprosium prices have spiked from $100 per kilo to $900 per kilo as China tightens rare earth export controls. REXC's holdings weigh about 48% Australia, 40% United States and 8% Canada, with roughly 38% large cap and the rest mid and small cap. The fund claims about 96% pure-play rare earth exposure, while some competing 'rare earth' ETFs hold single-digit exposure.

Sunrise Energy Metals - World's First Primary Scandium Mine

Sunrise Energy Metals - World's First Primary Scandium Mine

host Jul 17, 2026
  • Top takeaway As host, Jimmy Connor frames the interview around Sunrise Energy Metals' pitch as the world's first primary scandium mine, asking the guest to walk through scandium's end uses, the US-as-consumer/China-as-supplier imbalance (China ~85-90% of supply), and why the project is needed now.
  • Connor presses on the stock's move (from $1 to $15 in the past year) and on project economics: roughly $120M capex, 60 t/yr scandium oxide nameplate, a C1 cash cost of $530-$540/kg, first commercial production targeted for mid-2028, with US government funding and downstream metallization capacity as near-term news flow.

Sunrise Energy Metals (ASX: SRL) is building the world's first primary scandium mine at Syerston in New South Wales, targeting first commercial production in mid-2028. The build is capital-efficient at about US$120 million for a 60-tonne-per-year scandium oxide refinery, with a C1 cash cost of about US$530-540 per kilogram. A 650 ppm scandium ore grade dwarfs the 10-20 ppm recovered from Chinese waste streams, giving Sunrise a structural cost edge as the dominant Western producer. Scandium has become a chokepoint for 5G/6G filtering chips, solid oxide fuel cells, and defense alloys, with no workable substitute in many applications. Construction is underway with long-lead orders placed; management is pursuing North American financing initiatives, including potential US government support.

Investing in Critical Minerals and Rare Earths | Meredith Schwartz and Jimmy Connor

Investing in Critical Minerals and Rare Earths | Meredith Schwartz and Jimmy Connor

host Jul 16, 2026

China dominates rare earth supply chains: 60% of mining, 91% of refining, 94% of permanent magnet output. Rare earths are a 17-material subset of 60 critical minerals on the 2025 US list, separate from cobalt, lithium, nickel. China's oversupply-then-restrict strategy has squeezed US competitors out of heavy rare earths, where China now controls 98% of refined production. The G7 pledged no single nation can supply more than 60% of rare earth imports by 2030, with the US requiring non-China sourcing by 2027. Trump and Xi agreed in South Korea to a one-year rare earth export moratorium ending November 2026, but volumes of dysprosium and terbium remain low.

Rainbow Rare Earths - CEO George Bennett

Rainbow Rare Earths - CEO George Bennett

host Jul 14, 2026

Rainbow Rare Earths recovers rare earths from phosphogypsum waste — a processing business that bypasses the mine entirely. Phalaborwa (South Africa) targets 2029 production: NPV ~$775M, IRR above 44%, and ~75% EBITDA margins at current rare earth prices. Uberaba (Brazil, JV with Mosaic) shows similar economics — NPV ~$920M and 2030 production — by reusing Phalaborwa's flow sheet. Humanoid robots could need 3-5x more permanent magnets per unit than EVs; rare earth demand is broadening into drones and defense. The US DFC pledged $50M at FID, Traxxas joined as a cornerstone investor, and Rainbow is evaluating a US listing.

Virtual Rare Earth Conference - Master Class on Investing in Rare Earth Sector

Virtual Rare Earth Conference - Master Class on Investing in Rare Earth Sector

host Jul 11, 2026
  • Top takeaway Jimmy frames the conference as a deep dive into investing in rare earths, prompted by China's 'weaponization' via export restrictions and the recent price moves: neodymium up 75%, dysprosium up 300%, terbium up 400%.
  • He flags humanoid robots as the new structural demand layer, citing Musk's projection of up to 10 billion humanoids by 2040 and noting a single humanoid uses 3-5x the permanent magnets of an EV.

China controls 60% of mining, 91% of refining, and 94% of magnet output, pushing Western governments to fund non-Chinese rare earth supply. Dysprosium is up 300% and terbium is up 400% on Chinese export restrictions, with Western buyers still struggling to secure heavy rare earths. Heavy rare earths are hardest to extract economically; China refines roughly 98% of heavy metal, the gap G7 nations are racing to close. Rainbow Rare Earths targets 2029 production by recovering rare earths from phosphate mining waste stockpiles, sidestepping traditional mining risk. Humanoid robots could use 3 to 5 times more permanent magnets per unit than an EV, opening a major new rare earth demand vector.

Pecoy Copper: Copper Gold Deposit in Peru | Vincent Metcalfe and Jimmy Connor

Pecoy Copper: Copper Gold Deposit in Peru | Vincent Metcalfe and Jimmy Connor

host Jun 22, 2026

Pecoy Copper is advancing an 860M-ton inferred copper-gold deposit in Southern Peru at 1,645m elevation, with 40,000m of drilling planned this year. Year-round drilling in the Arequipa region keeps results flowing every 4-6 weeks, supported by three local labs delivering 2-3 week assay turnaround. Low elevation cuts all-in drill costs to roughly $400 per meter, several times cheaper than high-altitude Andean peers such as Filo. Lowering concentrate grade from 27% to 22-24% lifted Pecoy's gold recovery from 40% to 73%, capturing more by-product ounces in today's gold market. Pecoy is fully funded to mid-2027 with about $38 million cash, four covering analysts, and ongoing drill plus geophysics results through year-end.

NexMetals Mining: Copper-Nickel Developer Moving Towards Production | Sean Whiteford

NexMetals Mining: Copper-Nickel Developer Moving Towards Production | Sean Whiteford

host Jun 21, 2026

Botswana — ranked Africa's top mining jurisdiction — hosts NexMetals' two past-producing copper-nickel assets advancing toward a late-Q3 2026 PEA (Preliminary Economic Analysis). Salibi's massive sulfide mineralization averages 3.5% copper-equivalent, roughly three times the grade of typical operating porphyry copper mines. Metallurgy confirms saleable separate copper (27% concentrate, 85–87% recovery) and nickel (10.5%, 56% recovery) concentrates, avoiding billion-dollar smelter capex. Selkirk's 2024 resource (44 Mt at 0.81% CuEq) is set to grow after re-assayed historic core fills in missing PGEs (platinum-group elements) and cobalt. With C$26M cash, 100% asset ownership, and sell-side targets of C$8–C$12 vs ~C$4 today, NexMetals trades at a deep discount.

Meredith Whitney on the U.S. Economy and the Consumer

Meredith Whitney on the U.S. Economy and the Consumer

host Jun 20, 2026
  • Top takeaway As host, Connor frames the discussion around K-shaped indicators (GDP at 1.6%, CPI at 4.2%), quotes administration officials (Hassett, Bessent, Lutnick) on growth targets, and cites Jamie Dimon and Hank Paulson on debt risks.
  • Connor raises youth unemployment concerns (13.4% Canada, 9.4% U.S.) and argues the spike is largely a hangover from excessive COVID-era hiring plus trade-policy uncertainty.

Whitney calls the U.S. economy a K-shape: top 20% spending drives GDP while roughly 45% of households live payday-to-payday in shadow-finance stress. Inflation is persistent, not transitory; Whitney expects the Fed to hold rates and warns that further CPI acceleration could force a hike. U.S. banks are well-capitalized and have pulled back from lower-end lending, hiding consumer stress in pawn loans and daily-wage advances. Whitney sees today’s AI capex wave as parallel to the 1990s TMT buildout — a larger debt wave than equity wave and likely overbuild. On housing, boomers aging in place and builders forced to the high end leave the market gummed up with no near-term affordability fix.

Lumina Metals: Europe's Largest Copper-Silver District | Jordan Pandoff and Jimmy Connor

Lumina Metals: Europe's Largest Copper-Silver District | Jordan Pandoff and Jimmy Connor

host Jun 19, 2026
  • Top takeaway The host frames the interview around investor-relevant metrics — resource size, annual production, mine life, AISC, valuation gap, and timeline — drawing out the comparison points that matter for resource-equity investors.
  • He notes Lumina trades at a discount to comps despite a premier asset and argues upcoming catalysts (NYSE listing, asset spin-out, silver re-rating) could close the gap over the next 12 months.

An interview with Lumina Metals CEO Jordan Pandoff on the post-IPO status of the Nova Sul flagship copper-silver project in Poland's Kupferschiefer basin, the Polish fiscal regime challenges, and the path to a mining concession by the end of the decade.

Highland Copper: U.S. Copper Production in 2029 | Barry O’Shea and Jimmy Connor

Highland Copper: U.S. Copper Production in 2029 | Barry O’Shea and Jimmy Connor

host Jun 18, 2026
  • Top takeaway The host frames the discussion around near-term US copper production needs (H2 2029 best-case target), notes Highland Copper trades at a discount to its peers, and emphasizes upcoming catalysts including grant visibility, an integrated mine plan, and an updated feasibility study in early 2027.

Copperwood is a fully permitted, near-dated US copper project: 3.7B pounds defined, $400M capex, and a 2029 production target. AISC (All-In Sustaining Cost — what it truly costs to produce) sits at $250-275/lb; annual output of 30,000 tons addresses 5-10% of the US shortfall. NPV scales steeply with copper: $170M at $4/lb, $507M at $5/lb, and $850M at $6/lb, the guest argues. Federal capital is central: a $250M US Export-Import Bank LOI plus grant visibility could fund up to 75% of capex; equity need is ~$75M. An updated feasibility study at near-$5 copper is due early 2027; construction is targeted for 2027-2028 with first production H2 2029.

Faraday Copper: Copper in Arizona | Paul Harbidge and Jimmy Connor

Faraday Copper: Copper in Arizona | Paul Harbidge and Jimmy Connor

host Jun 17, 2026
  • Top takeaway Jimmy Connor frames the conversation around US copper consolidation and asks whether the recent M&A wave will continue
  • He cites El Dorado's recent acquisition and Hudbay's Arizona Sonora deal as evidence that development-stage assets are now being bought

Faraday's acquisition of BHP's San Manuel adds a 12-14 billion pound copper resource adjacent to Copper Creek, with Lundin Mining and BHP as strategic shareholders. The consolidated project targets a top-four US copper resource ranking by mid-2027, backed by roughly $130M in liquidity the company says carries it into 2028. Three rigs are infill drilling the Copper Creek open-pit breccia pipes, with an updated resource expected once San Manuel data is integrated. Copper Creek combines surface breccia pipes with deeper porphyry-style mineralization, with over 300 breccias mapped and only 15% drill-tested so far. Private land, rail, power, and federal critical-minerals support shorten the path to permits on what management calls one of the largest undeveloped US copper projects.

Evolve Royalties Focused on Copper | Joseph de la Plante and Jimmy Connor

Evolve Royalties Focused on Copper | Joseph de la Plante and Jimmy Connor

host Jun 16, 2026
  • Top takeaway Hosts the Copper Conference interview on his channel, framing the discussion around copper-focused royalty opportunities and walking the guest through Evolve Royalties' portfolio asset by asset.

A copper-focused royalty company with ~$120M market cap, Evolve Royalties expects $5-7M in revenue this year rising to $10M+ next. Highland Valley Copper royalty — on Canada's largest copper mine operated by Teck — anchors Evolve Royalties' portfolio at $2-3M annual cash flow. McIlvana Bay gains under Eldorado Gold ownership, with expansion studies brought forward and a maiden resource on the Tesla zone expected this year. Uis tin in Namibia and Copper Mountain under Hudbay add cash-flow diversification, while Salzales Angeles lithium royalty provides optionality. Evolve's ~$10M cash position and new revolving credit facility position the company to pursue $25-50M royalty acquisitions.

ATEX Resources: New Emerging Copper District in Chile | Chris Beer and Jimmy Connor

ATEX Resources: New Emerging Copper District in Chile | Chris Beer and Jimmy Connor

host Jun 15, 2026

ATEX has grown Valeriano to 2 billion tonnes at 0.8% CuEq, located in the Atacama copper belt that already produces 25% of global supply. Hole 19A stepped 200 metres south and stayed in mineralization, extending the high-grade B2B breccia to roughly 700 metres of strike. Clean initial metallurgy delivered 94-95% recoveries, a 33% copper concentrate, and no deleterious elements like arsenic. Agnico Eagle holds 15% and Pierre Lassonde 10%, backing a $150 million treasury that funds two more years of drilling. An updated resource is targeted for fall 2027, alongside first drilling at the newly acquired Nuevo Horizonte porphyry cluster.

Amerigo: A Low Risk Way to Invest in Copper | Aurora Davidson and Jimmy Connor

Amerigo: A Low Risk Way to Invest in Copper | Aurora Davidson and Jimmy Connor

host Jun 14, 2026
  • Top takeaway Acts as host/interviewer of the conversation, framing Amerigo as a low-risk way to invest in copper and steering the guest through Codelco's role, the MVC partnership and El Teniente, tailings grades, 2025 production and cash costs, the balance sheet and capital-return policy, growth, the recent stock move, and forward-looking indicators.

Amerigo's edge is processing tailings (crushed-rock waste from milling) from Codelco's El Teniente mine, paying royalties on recovered copper instead of mining and stripping ore. 2025 normalized cash cost was $1.87/lb on 62.2M pounds produced, anchored to El Teniente's 50-plus-year mine life and contracts running into 2037. Amerigo targets a $30M cash balance and returns surplus to shareholders via quarterly dividends, share buybacks, and performance dividends. Crossing a $1B market cap widened Amerigo's institutional base, lifting it into eligibility for larger funds, indices, and ETFs. Per the guest, growth is defined as per-share value rather than volume, since MVC's processing circuit is already fully built out.

Ross Beaty on Investing and Lessons Learned | Jimmy Connor

Ross Beaty on Investing and Lessons Learned | Jimmy Connor

host Jun 13, 2026

AI and data center electricity demand is set to roughly double by 2030, the guest argues, locking in structural copper demand growth. Easy surface copper is largely depleted; deeper, lower-grade ore means new projects need materially higher prices to be economic. Mine development timelines have stretched from 5-10 years historically to 15-25 years today, complicating new copper supply. Barrick's $5.5B first-phase capex and Teck's $2B Highland Valley extension underscore why copper development costs stay stubbornly high.

Rick Rule: What I'm Buying and What I'm Selling | Jimmy Connor

Rick Rule: What I'm Buying and What I'm Selling | Jimmy Connor

host Jun 9, 2026
  • Top takeaway Frames a US fiscal-crisis thesis: roughly $40T on-balance-sheet liabilities (about 115% of GDP) plus $120T off-balance-sheet liabilities against only $172T of private net worth, with about $4T of that gap consumed every year, leaving 'dishonest default' via money printing as the only politically viable path
  • Anchors the gold bull case in US money-supply growth — M2 went from $15.4T in January 2020 to over $22T, more than a 40% expansion — and warns that the next decade's handling of $160T in liabilities will dwarf that
  • Lays out current market extremes as a backdrop for the discussion: chip stocks parabolic (Intel up 150% YTD, Micron up 220% YTD), S&P up 8% YTD, NASDAQ up 15% YTD, gold flat YTD, silver down 8%, oil up 60% YTD, and SpaceX pricing at $1.75T / 100x revenues
  • Explicitly invites Rule's contrarian playbook — fading parabolic charts (silver melt-up, any oil melt-up), buying consolidator names set to gain index inclusion, and stockpiling hated commodities like uranium while prices are weak

Rick Rule won't touch parabolic chip names he can't value, a stance that exposes how narrow the S&P/NASDAQ rally has become. Higher oil is structurally priced in even if a Gulf truce pulls prices back, because decades of under-investment leave 2029-2030 tight. Rule treats uranium as a 10-year no-brainer and welcomes lower prices to add more, citing Asian energy-security restarts after 50 years. Gold is savings, silver is speculation; he sold silver in January on a parabolic chart and still owns gold as a fiat hedge. Copper is a 5-year no-brainer on 30 years of under-investment, but a tough six months likely if rising rates force Chinese inventory liquidation.

FREE Master Class on Investing in Copper and Copper Stocks | Jimmy Connor

host Jun 6, 2026
  • Top takeaway Jimmy Connor frames the macro copper thesis, citing UBS's projection of a 520,000 ton copper deficit by 2027 and $15,000 per ton prices by March 2027.
  • Connor cites Goldman Sachs's estimate that AI CapEx will reach $1.6 trillion by 2031, driving significant new copper demand from data centers.

UBS projects a 520,000-ton copper deficit by 2027 and a $15,000/ton price, framing the supply-demand squeeze that drove this conference. Chile produces roughly a quarter of global copper but output peaked in 2018, as falling ore grades and longer development timelines pressure new supply. AI data centers, EVs (150 lbs vs 50 lbs in gas cars), and renewable build-out are reshaping demand — together already making up 32% of copper use. Major supply disruptions at Cobre Panama, Grasberg, and Kamoa Kakula hit at the same time as demand acceleration, exposing the fragility of the supply base. Eight copper-focused company conversations cover developers (ATEX, Faraday, Highland, Lumina), a tailings processor (Amerigo), a royalty platform (Evolve), and Sprott's physical and ETF vehicles.

Why I'm Bullish on Gold and Silver | Michael Gentile and Jimmy Connor

Why I'm Bullish on Gold and Silver | Michael Gentile and Jimmy Connor

host May 30, 2026

US debt of $40T refinanced at 5% would push interest expense to $2T a year, so the Fed cannot meaningfully raise rates, supporting gold. The pullback from January's $5,500 spike to roughly $4,500 is a healthy shakeout that flushed speculative longs, not a trend reversal. Gold producers currently price in roughly $3,800 gold and trade at deep discounts to NAV, offering outsized upside if spot holds. A wave of mining M&A is coming as net-cash majors with record free cash flow must replace reserves that have been depleted for a decade. Michael Gentile takes 5-20% early stakes in 30-35 micro-cap juniors, aiming for 20-50x returns as few graduates get acquired by majors.

Bond Market is in Trouble | Michael Oliver and Jimmy Connor

Bond Market is in Trouble | Michael Oliver and Jimmy Connor

host May 23, 2026

The 30-year bond market sits beyond the Fed reach, with yields near 5.10% reflecting structural stress on long-duration debt. The guest argues a multi-decade government bond crisis has now technically begun, one that dwarfs the 2007-09 mortgage event. The guest says gold decade-long rise reflects the monetary metals pricing in a looming sovereign debt crisis. Unemployment is a lagging indicator, so a stable jobs print does not rule out an incoming equity bear market. Three failed 30-year bond rally attempts since late 2022 point to a downside break of the basing pattern.

Michael Oliver Latest on Gold, Silver, Oil and S&P | Recorded Evening May 15

host May 17, 2026

The guest argues the 30-year Treasury breaking a multi-year basing pattern signals a bond crisis larger than the 2008 mortgage shock. Oliver calls silver his most explosive setup, reiterating a $300-$500 late-summer target after spotting a March bear trap near $61. He frames the S&P at 7,500 as topping, with narrow semis leadership reading as a blow-off top, not a new bull leg. Oil is in a major bull trend after a January $65 breakout, but Oliver expects a flush to $80 from headline-chasing longs before resumption. Bitcoin's rally to 80,000 looks like a counter-trend bounce in his view; a renewed break below 60,000 would put its viability in question.
