Vincent Metcalfe

President & CEO | Pecoy Copper Corp. and Comet Lithium Corp. | Co-founder of Nomad Royalty (acquired by Sandstorm Gold, 2022) and Evolve Royalties

"Co-founding Nomad Royalty and selling it to Sandstorm Gold in 2022; now building the Pecoy copper-gold project in southern Peru as CEO."

Mining Executive

Biography

Vincent Metcalfe is a mining executive and capital-markets specialist whose record sits at the intersection of project building and deal making. He co-founded Nomad Royalty Company, a gold royalty and streaming business (royalty and streaming companies finance mines in exchange for a share of future production or revenue), and served as its CEO and chair until Sandstorm Gold acquired it in an all-stock transaction completed in August 2022. Today he leads two explorers: Pecoy Copper Corp. (TSXV: PCU), which controls the Pecoy copper-gold project in southern Peru, and Comet Lithium Corporation (TSXV: CLIC), exploring for lithium and cesium in Quebec's James Bay region.

The Nomad sale is his best-known result: Sandstorm's purchase implied an equity value of roughly US$590 million (about C$755 million). Before that, Metcalfe spent nearly a decade advising resource clients on mergers, acquisitions and financings at large Canadian investment banks, then held officer and senior executive roles with TSX- and NYSE-listed resource companies in the Osisko group. In 2023, Young Mining Professionals awarded him the Peter Munk Award for leadership and innovation in mining.

His method pairs carefully chosen projects with early, institutional-quality financing. At Pecoy Copper, where he is president, CEO and a director, he consolidated 100% ownership of the Pecoy project through a reverse takeover (a listing route in which a private company merges into a public shell) completed in September 2025, alongside a C$63.5 million private placement led by Canaccord Genuity. The project is a porphyry copper deposit — a large-tonnage style of mineralization typically mined in open pits — with an inferred resource (an estimate with lower geological confidence than indicated or measured) of 865 million tonnes at 0.34% copper, about 6.45 billion pounds, outlined in an April 2025 NI 43-101 report, the Canadian standard for publicly disclosed mineral estimates. He applies a similar royalty lens as co-founder and chief investment officer of Evolve Royalties (CSE: EVR), a copper-focused royalty company holding interests in mines such as Highland Valley Copper and Copper Mountain.

For investors, following Metcalfe offers a real-time look at how a copper project is financed and advanced. Pecoy's fully funded 2026 program of roughly 35,000 metres of drilling is expanding the South Breccia and Northwest zones, with recent intercepts including 42.3 metres at 1.01% copper near surface, and the shares moved up to the OTCQX market in the United States in September 2026. At Comet Lithium, Elmer East has grown from grassroots lithium exploration into a cesium-bearing pegmatite discovery traced over more than 200 metres of strike. He discusses both stories in mining podcasts and video interviews, usually focusing on capital strategy, Peru's operating environment, and copper's role in the energy transition.

  • Top takeaway Argues Pecoy's core investment case is buildability — 1,645m elevation, single camp, established Arequipa mining region with existing ports, highways, and labor — which he says makes the project more attractive to potential acquirers than higher-altitude or more complex peers.
  • Frames the consolidation of Pecoy with Torumé (8 km north, ~3x the geophysical footprint, all nine historical holes mineralized) as positioning Pecoy Copper as a district-scale rather than single-asset story.
  • Says accepting a lower copper-concentrate grade (22-24% versus the historical 27%) could lift gold recovery from 40% to 73%, an attractive trade-off at the ~$45,000/oz gold price cited in the video.
  • Highlights the year-round drilling season, ~$400/m all-in drill cost, and 2-3 week assay turnaround through three Arequipa labs as sustaining steady news flow that high-altitude Andean peers cannot match.
  • Outlines near-term catalysts: 40,000m drill program in 2026, phase-two metallurgical work in late 2026, an MT geophysical survey that could justify a 2,000m step-out hole to chase the high-grade source, and continued analyst outreach (Scotia, Canaccord, Desjardins, National Bank).

Pecoy Copper is advancing an 860M-ton inferred copper-gold deposit in Southern Peru at 1,645m elevation, with 40,000m of drilling planned this year. Year-round drilling in the Arequipa region keeps results flowing every 4-6 weeks, supported by three local labs delivering 2-3 week assay turnaround. Low elevation cuts all-in drill costs to roughly $400 per meter, several times cheaper than high-altitude Andean peers such as Filo. Lowering concentrate grade from 27% to 22-24% lifted Pecoy's gold recovery from 40% to 73%, capturing more by-product ounces in today's gold market. Pecoy is fully funded to mid-2027 with about $38 million cash, four covering analysts, and ongoing drill plus geophysics results through year-end.
