Managing Director and CEO | Paladin Energy Ltd | Uranium operator leading Langer Heinrich restart

"Named Paladin Energy CEO in 2025; led Langer Heinrich uranium mine restart as COO"

Mining Executive

Biography

Paul Hemburrow is the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Paladin Energy Ltd (ASX: PDN), an Australian-listed uranium producer operating the Langer Heinrich mine in Namibia. Investors follow Paladin for direct exposure to the uranium spot price, and Hemburrow is the operator currently steering one of the few restarted uranium mines of the recent cycle.

Hemburrow joined Paladin as Chief Operating Officer in February 2023 and was appointed CEO effective 1 September 2025, succeeding Ian Purdy. In his COO seat he oversaw the Langer Heinrich restart: production resumed in March 2024, commercial production was declared the following month, and the operation hit a record post-restart output in April 2025. Before Paladin, he spent almost eight years at BHP Billiton, reaching Asset President level on the coal and iron ore side of the business, and earlier held a port operations role at Rio Tinto. He has logged more than 30 years of operational and management experience across Australian and African resources.

His track record is operational rather than promotional — mine restarts, port throughput, asset leadership — and his public commentary has stayed anchored to production milestones, cost discipline, and the sequencing of uranium offtake into a tightening market. For investors sizing uranium equities, his voice is most useful as a real-time read on the supply side: a working mine, ramp curves, and the execution risk that comes with bringing idled uranium capacity back online.

With commercial production at Langer Heinrich achieved and FY2026 ramp-up completed, his focus has shifted to nameplate recovery and the next leg of growth from Paladin's broader uranium portfolio. Resource investors looking for an operator-side view on the uranium cycle will find his earnings commentary and conference appearances the most relevant read.
