Oliver Turner

EVP, Corporate Development | Americas Gold and Silver Corporation (TSX: USA) | Corporate development lead for a high-grade silver and antimony producer

"Corporate development chief at Americas Gold and Silver, pressing Galena's high-grade silver ramp and the company's antimony story"

Mining Executive

Biography

Oliver Turner is Executive Vice President, Corporate Development at Americas Gold and Silver Corporation (TSX: USA; NYSE American: USAS), a silver producer whose core assets are the century-old Galena mine in Idaho and the Cosalá operations in Sinaloa, Mexico. Resource investors should be clear about what that title is: at a still-small producer, corporate development is the capital-markets job — raising money, telling the asset story, and finding the next deal. He does it with a mining engineer's degree and an equity analyst's habit rather than a pure finance background.

His career has run through three very different kinds of employer. He was Senior Vice President of Mining Equity Research at GMP Securities, covering mining stocks from the analyst side, before moving to the producer side at Karora Resources, where he served as Executive Vice President, Corporate Development until the company's 2024 merger with Westgold Resources. Earlier he worked at Wardrop Engineering, a mining and process engineering firm now part of Tetra Tech. He holds a mining engineering degree from Queen's University, studied at London Business School, is a CFA charterholder with the ICD.D designation, and co-founded Invert Inc., a carbon reduction company the group describes as $100M.

His focus is turning producing mines into cash flow. The centre of gravity is Galena, a century-old silver mine in the Coeur d'Alene district that he describes as holding more than 200 million ounces of silver resource at an average grade near 500 grams per tonne. Grades at that level change the job: the question is not where to drill next but how many tonnes to push through the mill and how much metal to pull out of each one. That is the argument he makes in public — throughput and recovery first, resource growth second — while the Cosalá complex in Mexico is mechanised alongside it.

The second thread is what silver is worth when it is read as a supply-chain input. Americas recovers antimony alongside silver, and antimony matters to end users because it goes into flame retardants and battery chemistries and because export controls have tightened supply. His pitch to institutions is that the same ounces now carry a second, policy-driven bid. He also discusses the equity side openly, for example reporting that daily trading volume moved from roughly $400,000–$500,000 when the current team took control in October 2024 to a range he puts at $70–75 million.

Two limits are worth stating. He is a company executive, not an independent analyst: he is paid to make this particular equity more attractive, and his numbers come from his own disclosure record, so filings and technical reports remain the check. And his record, while deep, is narrow — the public trail runs almost entirely through two issuers, Karora Resources and Americas Gold and Silver. What he offers is one carefully prepared look at one high-grade silver-and-antimony asset complex, by someone who has both researched and helped build the companies involved.
