Mike Allen
President, CEO & Director | StrikePoint Gold Inc. (TSXV: SKP) | Nevada Walker Lane gold explorer
"Building and selling Nevada gold juniors — sold Northern Empire Resources to Coeur Mining for about $120 million in 2018 — and now acquiring Newmont's Nevada assets for StrikePoint Gold."
Biography
Michael G. Allen, P.Geo (a licensed professional geologist), is president, CEO and a director of StrikePoint Gold Inc. (TSXV: SKP), a junior gold company assembling past-producing and exploration ground along Nevada's Walker Lane — a mineralized structural corridor in the western part of the state that hosts major mines such as Round Mountain. Resource investors follow him because he has taken a junior through the full cycle: find an asset, advance it, finance it, and sell the company at a premium. Since 2022 he has applied that playbook at StrikePoint, buying Nevada gold assets directly from Newmont.
Allen has more than 20 years in mineral exploration and development, from grassroots programs through construction and operations. After graduating in geology from the University of Alberta and starting out in diamond exploration in Alberta, he became president, CEO and a director of Northern Empire Resources, where he identified, acquired and advanced the Sterling gold project in Nevada's Beatty district. Coeur Mining bought the company in 2018 for approximately $120 million with the stock near an all-time high; Coeur later sold its southern Nevada assets, including Sterling, to AngloGold Ashanti for $150 million in 2022 — a second sale that underlined the quality of the ground Allen had assembled. He then served as president of Elevation Gold Mining Corporation, which operated the Copperstone mine, Arizona's largest precious metals producer, before joining StrikePoint in November 2022.
At StrikePoint his method is focus and sequencing. He acquired the Hercules gold project in Nevada in 2024 and drilled broad zones of near-surface oxide gold, including 114.30 metres grading 0.69 g/t gold — the company's best intercept to date. He sold the non-core Porter-Idaho project in British Columbia to Dolly Varden Silver in 2025, bought the past-producing Como mining district from Newmont in February 2026, and in August 2026 signed an agreement to purchase the Northumberland gold project, also from Newmont: a past-producing deposit on private ground in the Walker Lane that the company reports carries an initial mineral resource estimate of 2.86 million ounces indicated and 1.57 million ounces inferred, on a gold-equivalent basis (gold-equivalent converts silver value into gold ounces). The purchase is funded by a bought-deal financing (shares placed with an underwriter at a set price) that was upsized to C$190 million and closed on September 9, 2026.
As a qualified person under NI 43-101 (Canada's mineral disclosure standard), Allen takes direct responsibility for StrikePoint's technical reporting. Following him is effectively a case study in junior-market deal-making: how asset sales, major-company divestitures and successive financings can be sequenced into a district-scale Nevada position. His current focus is completing the Northumberland acquisition and defining oxide gold at Hercules, and he presented the story at the Metals Investor Forum in Vancouver in September 2026.
