Michael Tucker

CEO & Director | Perseverance Metals Inc. (TSX-V: PMI) | P.Geo., nickel-copper-PGE critical minerals explorer

"High-grade nickel-copper-PGE discoveries at Lac Gayot and Voyageur, and exploration leadership on Balmoral Resources' company-making Fenelon gold project"

Mining Executive

Biography

Michael Tucker, P.Geo., is the CEO and a director of Perseverance Metals Inc. (TSX-V: PMI), a critical minerals explorer hunting nickel, copper, cobalt, and platinum-group elements (PGEs — platinum, palladium, and related metals used in batteries and catalytic converters) across three district-scale North American projects: Lac Gayot in Québec, Voyageur in Michigan, and Armit Lake in Ontario. Resource investors should know his name because he pairs a working geologist's track record with a young public company that strategic backers have already endorsed — Teck Resources and Altius Minerals participated in Perseverance's C$11.8 million financing that closed in October 2026.

Tucker holds a bachelor's degree in geology from Laurentian University and a master's in geological sciences from the University of British Columbia, and has more than a decade of field exploration experience. As Exploration Manager at Balmoral Resources, he led exploration across all of the company's projects, including the Fenelon gold project in Québec — a discovery success that triggered Wallbridge Mining's takeover of Balmoral in 2020 — and Balmoral won multiple exploration awards during his tenure.

He went on to build Perseverance Metals and list it on the TSX Venture Exchange in October 2025, raising more than $8 million around the listing. The drill results have since backed the capital: a blind discovery (high-grade mineralization found without a surface showing to guide drilling) at the Baseline Zone on Lac Gayot returned more than 4% nickel over 2.1 metres along with copper, cobalt, and palladium credits; the Nasique Zone was intersected in all nine follow-up holes; and in September 2026 the company announced a nickel-copper sulphide-bearing intrusion at Voyageur, about 70 kilometres from the Eagle mine — the only operating nickel mine in the United States.

Tucker's method is geology-first and geophysics-guided. Perseverance consolidates underexplored greenstone belts — ancient volcanic belts that host the world's nickel-copper sulphide mines — in districts where a discovery could attract a larger buyer. At Lac Gayot, the company covers the full 30-kilometre Venus Greenstone Belt and uses borehole geophysics to vector toward massive sulphides (dense, metal-rich sulphide mineralization that shows up as a conductive target), an approach Tucker credits for validating the Baseline and Nasique discoveries. He has told shareholders the company aims to deliver 'long-term value through the drill bit' — letting results, not promotion, drive the story.

Through 2026, he is directing roughly 5,000 metres of drilling at Lac Gayot, a first 2,000–3,000 metre program at Voyageur, and ground geophysics across the newly defined 6-by-2-kilometre Venus East Trend, which already hosts seven mineralized zones. Following Tucker offers investors a running case study in how a critical-metals junior earns credibility: strategic capital from established miners, drill-verified discoveries, and land packages in both the United States and Québec.

  • Top takeaway His core call is that the Osprey intrusion on Perseverance's Voyager project in Michigan's Mid-Continent Rift can host Eagle- and Tamarack-style high-grade nickel-copper mineralization, with the first drill rig turning since July 2026.
  • He argues the single most important ingredient for success is grade: high-grade discoveries in favorable jurisdictions attract attention and stay viable, rather than marginal projects contingent on metal prices.
  • He says the $10 million oversubscribed financing in progress at interview time lets Perseverance accelerate in Michigan with more drilling and geophysical surveys to find more fertile intrusions like Osprey.
  • On track record, he notes he and Perseverance president John Foulkes are former Belmora Resources employees who made the Martinier gold and Grisette nickel discoveries there before the company was sold to Wallbridge Mining in 2020 for about $110 million, an experience that shaped the focus on high-grade nickel sulfides.
  • He reports strong community and regulator support around Voyager in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, saying locals want a replacement for the Eagle Mine, scheduled to run out of ore around 2030.

Perseverance Metals is drilling its first Osprey target in Michigan's Mid-Continent Rift, seeking nickel-copper deposits formed in igneous intrusions, like the producing Eagle Mine. A $10 million oversubscribed financing is closing now to fund more drilling and geophysical surveys across the Voyager property and nearby targets. The CEO and president previously sold Belmora Resources for about $110 million in 2020 after two discoveries, including a nickel deposit. The CEO's success test: high-grade discoveries in favorable jurisdictions win attention, while marginal deposits contingent on metal prices do not. The Upper Peninsula stays pro-mining: permitting through the Ottawa National Forest went smoothly, and locals want a successor to Eagle Mine closing around 2030.
