Michael Gross
President & CEO | TruSilver Metals Corp. | Founder of Linear Gold and Brigus Gold, sold to Primero Mining; director of Fortune Bay Corp.
"Founding and financing junior resource companies — Linear Gold and Brigus Gold, sold to Primero Mining — and now leading the Sturgis-Walton silver project as CEO of TruSilver Metals."
Biography
Dr. Michael Gross is President, CEO and a director of TruSilver Metals Corp., a junior silver company bringing the Sturgis-Walton Silver Project in Nova Scotia toward a TSX Venture Exchange listing. For resource investors, his relevance is a two-decade record of founding, financing and directing public mining companies — now applied to a royalty-free silver property beside a mine that produced for nearly 40 years.
Gross trained as a surgeon (MB.BS, FRCS) and built a medical career in Halifax while co-founding resource ventures. In 2002 he founded Linear Gold Corp. and served as its lead director through the 2010 merger with Auxo Resources that formed Brigus Gold Corp., operator of the Black Fox gold mine in Ontario; Primero Mining acquired Brigus in 2014 in a transaction valued at about US$220 million. He has been an independent director of uranium explorer Fortune Bay Corp. (TSXV: FOR) since 2016, sitting on its audit and compensation committees, and at TruSilver he personally subscribed about C$200,000 of the C$2.5 million financing the company closed in September 2026.
His approach at TruSilver pairs a proven mining district with modern, tightly funded exploration. The 1,120-hectare Sturgis-Walton property in Hants County sits next to the past-producing Walton mine, which operated from 1941 to 1978, first for barite (a dense mineral used in drilling fluids) and later for silver-lead-zinc-copper ore. TruSilver's 2023 drill program cut two zones of silver and copper mineralization, and in mid-2026 the company deepened two 1960s-era holes to 464 and 712 metres, logging sulphides near the historic workings. A Phase 1 drill program was slated for fall 2026, with a roughly 3,500-metre Phase 2 to follow.
Investors can follow two near-term catalysts: completion of the qualifying transaction (a TSXV listing route in which the shell company Galaxy Ventures Inc. merges with TruSilver; the ticker "TAG" is reserved) and early drill results from Sturgis-Walton. Gross, who splits his time between medicine and mineral exploration, presents at the Metals Investor Forum, and his team includes former IAMGOLD chief geologist Matt Rees as vice-president of exploration. As he put it when the deal was announced: "Walton is the rare project where history, infrastructure and modern exploration potential converge."

Michael Gross of TruSilver Metals Corp. talks to Peter Krauth | Metals Investor Forum Sept. 2026
- Top takeaway Gross argues the deepened historical holes confirm Walton-style geology at TruSilver — barite and siderite above the sulfide horizon that hosted the silver — with assays still outstanding.
- He contends Nova Scotia has barely been explored because a uranium drilling moratorium spread to all drilling, and sees the government now encouraging mineral exploration for royalty income.
- He treats Rio Tinto's staking of the surrounding ground in November as outside interest in the area and suggests a few other companies may be interested as well.
- He says the exchange listing is nearly complete and that people will be able to participate 'very soon', with the company at roughly a $10 million market cap.
- He describes a deliberately cautious, risk-mitigated way of running the company because it started with little money, keeping drilling costs and plans tight to avoid surprises.
TruSilver Metals CEO Michael Gross argues the historic Walton silver mine in Nova Scotia may be a small expression of a much larger system. Two deepened holes south of the old workings cut barite (drilling-mud mineral) and siderite, rocks that capped the historic deposit. Lab assays from those holes are delayed by the fall backlog, so an October drill program will test how far the structure runs. Rio Tinto staked every surrounding claim in November, which Gross reads as outside interest in a district modern exploration has barely touched. A qualifying-transaction listing (a TSX-V shell route to market) is with the exchange, and the pre-listing company carries a $10 million market cap.
Michael Gross of TruSilver Metals Corp. presents at Metals Investor Forum in Vancouver | Sep 2026
- Top takeaway Gross argues a deep conductive zone with high magnetics and high gravity density is the main feeder for the historic Walton mine and is the target worth drilling.
- He claims barite and siderite intersected in the two deepened holes show TruSilver is close to the mineralized horizon.
- He reads Rio Tinto's staking of the surrounding ground as the major watching what TruSilver finds on its land.
- He commits the company to spending mostly in the ground rather than on salaries or investor relations, because the core is king.
At Nova Scotia's historic Walton mine, surface barite capped high-grade silver sulfides — and TruSilver reports the same indicator minerals nearby. Two deepened historic holes hit barite with siderite plus sulfides, so the company plans its first own drill hole this fall once public. Geophysics outlines a conductive, magnetic, high-density target the team believes fed the old mine, and Rio Tinto has staked much of the surrounding ground. Historic drill cores inside the mine showed indicators of 185 ounces per ton silver with copper credits between 0.4% and 0.9%. Spending stays pointed at drilling — core is king — with a strengthened technical team and warrants expected to fund follow-up after a re-rating.
