"Building and financing Canadian junior exploration companies, from Yukon placer gold to SLAM's antimony and copper projects in New Brunswick"

Mining Executive

Biography

Jimmy Gravel is Vice-President and a director of SLAM Exploration Ltd. (TSXV: SXL), a junior explorer — an early-stage mineral company typically listed on the TSX Venture Exchange — working New Brunswick's Bathurst Mining Camp. The camp is one of Canada's historic mining districts, long known for zinc and base metals and now drawing attention for gold and antimony, a critical mineral used in ammunition, alloys, and flame retardants. Gravel is a company builder: for more than two decades he has founded, led, and financed Canadian exploration ventures, and that operator's perspective now informs how SLAM develops its project portfolio.

His most verifiable result came as President and CEO of Genius Properties, a Canadian Securities Exchange-listed company. Under his leadership, Genius completed the strategic takeover that transformed it into Cerro De Pasco Resources, which is reprocessing historic mine tailings at Cerro de Pasco, Peru, and whose market capitalization has since stood well above C$100 million. He is also Vice-President and founder of 21Alpha Resources Inc., an exploration company in Nova Scotia; founder of NBGold Inc., a private New Brunswick explorer working with larger public companies; and President and founder of Florence Creek Inc., a placer gold venture — placer means gold mined from creek gravels — in the Yukon. A major shareholder in several public companies, he has facilitated numerous acquisitions and sales of mining properties across Canada. SLAM appointed him an independent director in February 2025, Vice-President in June 2025, and chair of its audit committee.

Gravel's approach was learned in the field. Trained in sales and marketing, he spent roughly a decade working hands-on alongside senior geologists on projects across Canada, an experience he credits for his geological grounding. His deal-making record shows the method: through his private company Gravel Developments Inc., he sold SLAM a 100%-owned claim package in northwestern New Brunswick in late 2024, months before joining its board. He concentrates on gold and critical-minerals projects in mining-friendly Canadian jurisdictions.

Today Gravel is a public face of SLAM's push in the Bathurst Mining Camp. He presented the company's copper, nickel, cobalt, and gold projects at the 51st Annual New Orleans Investment Conference in October 2025 and sat for a CEO.CA interview on SLAM's multiplying drill targets. Investors who follow him get an early-stage read on Canadian gold-antimony exploration and a practical look at how junior projects are assembled, financed, and advanced.
