Biography

Enrico Gay is the Chief Executive Officer of Algo Grande Copper Corp. (TSXV: ALGR on the TSX Venture Exchange), a Vancouver-based junior mining company advancing the Adelita copper-gold-silver project in Sonora, Mexico. He took over as CEO in November 2025, when Kenadyr Metals was rebuilt into Algo Grande around the acquisition of Adelita. His decisions matter to resource investors because they set the exploration pace, spending, and financing at one of the newer copper stories in the Sonora-Arizona belt, a district that produces roughly 80% of Mexico's copper.

Gay is a capital markets professional with more than a decade of project management experience serving private and public companies in mining, technology, and other sectors, and he holds a BA from the University of British Columbia. The company credits him as a founding member of the group that acquired the roughly 6,000-hectare Adelita property and with leading its early financings. In August and September 2026 he closed an oversubscribed $4.79 million private placement (a share sale that raises exploration funds) while Phase II drilling at the Cerro Grande zone returned 68.43 metres of mineralization and a 30.23-metre intersection grading 1.5% copper-equivalent — a single figure combining the value of the copper, gold, and silver in the rock — including 3.55 metres at 9.4%.

His approach is to buy data before buying holes. Under his direction the company has flown drone magnetics, commissioned LiDAR topographic surveys, and run soil geochemistry across a mineralized corridor more than 6 kilometres long, feeding 3D geological and machine-learning models that rank drill targets. "Drilling is the most expensive part of exploration," he told Streetwise Reports in March 2026, explaining why the company maps magnetite-rich skarn — a contact rock where metals concentrate near an intrusion — before committing drill rigs. Adelita follows the skarn-porphyry model typical of northwestern Mexico, in which a larger copper deposit may sit at depth below the near-surface skarn, and Gay works with Sonora-based operating partner Minera Cascabel while the company earned a BB rating in its first Digbee ESG assessment in September 2026.

The record is short and unproven: Gay has led the company for less than a year, and Adelita has no published resource estimate yet (a resource estimate is the technical tally of how many tonnes at what grade a deposit contains). What an investor can watch is execution — drill results, target definition, and financing cadence — all of which Algo Grande reports as it goes. He presents at venues such as the Metals Investor Forum and gives regular interviews on copper markets, so his reasoning is easy to follow in real time.

  • Top takeaway Enrico Gay, Algo Grande's CEO, argues that the Adelita project in Sonora is a high-grade copper exploration story where the skarn discovery is getting bigger and could potentially reach 25-30 million tons.
  • He emphasizes capital-structure discipline, noting that all roughly $50 million raised since the December 2025 acquisition was done via straight-share private placements with no warrants.
  • He frames Sonora as a top copper jurisdiction — Mexico's number one copper-producing state and host to Grupo Mexico's Buena Vista and Caridad mines plus other major operators.
  • He positions Algo Grande as a young, ambitious team supported by senior advisors, including chairman Raymond Hannas and senior technical advisor Peter McGaugh.
  • He points to deeper blue-sky potential beyond the skarn, citing a modeled resistivity anomaly and molybdenum spikes up to 3,000 ppm that he interprets as evidence of a porphyry source at depth.

Algo Grande Copper is an early-stage ~$35M-market-cap copper explorer with one Sonora, Mexico skarn discovery and two rigs turning. Phase 1 drilling grew a two-horizon skarn into a five-horizon system averaging 57 meters above 1.8% copper equivalent across four holes. Phase 2 (8,000 meters) is mid-flight; the first released hole cut 30 meters at 1.5% copper equivalent within the top 200 meters. $50 million has been raised through straight-share private placements with zero warrants, preserving a deliberately clean capital structure. An internal (non-43-101) model estimates 14 million tons at 1.4% copper equivalent; the underlying porphyry remains untested blue sky.
