Darren Klinck
President & Director | Arras Minerals Corp. | Kazakhstan copper-gold exploration; also President, Silver Bull Resources
"Leading Kazakhstan copper-gold exploration at Arras Minerals, backed by a Teck Resources exploration alliance"
Biography
Darren Klinck is President and Director of Arras Minerals Corp. (TSX-V: ARK; OTCQB: ARRKF), a Canadian-listed junior explorer — a small company searching for new mineral deposits — drilling for copper and gold in northeastern Kazakhstan. He also serves as President of Silver Bull Resources, a silver explorer with the Sierra Mojada project in Coahuila, Mexico. For resource investors, his work matters for a simple reason: he runs one of the few Western-listed exploration programs in a country that mines large volumes of copper but has seen little modern exploration by outside companies.
At Arras, Klinck has assembled a large claim position across underexplored copper-gold belts and, in 2023, signed a strategic exploration alliance with Teck Resources, one of the world's larger copper producers. Under the deal, Teck funds early-stage exploration on selected Arras licenses and can earn into projects by meeting spending commitments. That structure lets Arras cover more ground while limiting dilution — the shrinking of existing shareholders' ownership that comes with raising new money. The company has drilled targets such as Bespanka, where soil sampling outlined a large gold-in-soil anomaly, and Klinck has presented the story at consecutive Metals Investor Forum events in Toronto and Vancouver.
His method is partnership-led exploration. Rather than spending shareholders' money across an entire land package, Arras uses alliances like the Teck deal to fund generative work — early surveying that identifies drill-ready targets — while directing its own budget at the most advanced projects. The Kazakhstan thesis is straightforward: Soviet-era geological maps record significant mineralization (rock containing metals in recoverable concentrations), but modern discovery techniques have rarely been applied. Klinck argues this gap offers lower discovery costs than crowded, better-known mining jurisdictions.
Arras remains an exploration-stage company: its value rests on discovery, not production, and investors should weigh frontier-jurisdiction risks — logistics, permitting, geopolitics — alongside the potential upside. Klinck's recurring Metals Investor Forum appearances, including the forum's Shark Tank-style pitching sessions, give copper investors a regular, on-the-record view of how the thesis is progressing through drill results and alliance spending. His parallel role at Silver Bull adds a silver-focused angle as that company advances its Mexican projects.

Eight junior resource companies faced 59 minutes of investor-style questioning from a mining newsletter writer given only 15 minutes' notice. Equinox Gold says the market has not yet digested its July Orla Mining deal, which added 150,000 ounces of production. Six of the eight are pre-production explorers whose value hinges on assay results rather than cash flow. Tungsten near $3,000 per MTU (a 10-kilogram unit) is roughly 10 times its historic norm, and management expects a correction. Panel voting put Palisades Gold first on a warrant portfolio of $1.7 billion across 330 junior resource companies, with Equinox second.
Darren Klinck of Arras Minerals Corp. talks to Joe Mazumdar | Metals Investor Forum Sept. 2026
- Top takeaway The speaker says hole 32 at Breschi North cut 939 meters at 0.71 Cu-Au equivalent and ended in mineralization, which the company geologist interprets as drilling on the edge of an underlying porphyry system that is still open
- The company plans roughly 55,000 meters of cumulative drilling by year-end 2026, having doubled its program from 20,000 meters to 40,000 meters with four rigs running across the Breschi trend
- Klinck describes the Breschi trend as a 10-kilometer corridor covering about 15 to 20 square kilometers, with three porphyry centers identified to date: Breschi North, Breschi Central, and Breschi East, with additional untested targets still to be drilled
- The company is well financed for roughly 18 months as of the September 2026 interview, with funding carried through to the back end of 2027 after recent equity raises at $0.85 and $1.36
- The guest argues Kazakhstan is in the box seat because drilling costs $120 a meter, diesel runs at $0.50 a liter, power is 2.5 to 3 cents per kilowatt-hour, and existing mining and downstream-processing infrastructure — including a new copper smelter and nearby refractory-gold autoclave — make large projects more economic to build
Arras Minerals has doubled its 2026 drill program to 40,000 metres at Elemes, with four rigs now turning at the Kazakhstan copper-gold project. Three porphyry centres have been identified along the 10-kilometre Breschi trend, anchored by a 939-metre hole of 0.71% copper-equivalent at Breschi North. Top-of-bedrock (KGK) reconnaissance is testing the Amundai soil anomaly cheaply at about $25 a metre. Kazakhstan's all-in drill cost of $120 a metre, diesel near $0.50/L and power around $0.03/kWh give remote copper-gold mines an unusually low capex hurdle. Equity raised at $0.85 in 2025 and $1.36 in 2026 funds drilling through late 2027, with ~55,000 metres expected by year-end.
Darren Klinck of Arras Minerals Corp. presents at Metals Investor Forum in Vancouver | Sep 2026
- Top takeaway The guest argues Kazakhstan is one of the cheapest places in the world to explore, operate, and build mines, making it a strategic jurisdiction for copper-gold discovery.
- He frames the Elemis project in northeastern Kazakhstan as an early-mover position, with his team being the first North American junior to enter the country about four years ago.
- Klinck highlights three porphyry centers at Breski (north, central, east) with about 38 holes reported and roughly 30 pending, expecting assay flow over the next 6 to 8 months.
- He emphasizes local cost advantages — about $110 per meter to drill core, roughly $0.50 per liter diesel, and about $0.03 per kilowatt hour power — and points to the nearby Boshakal mine producing copper at about $1 per pound at grades of 0.33% copper and 0.13 g/t gold.
- He notes the company has about $25 million in cash from a recent bought deal on roughly 140 million shares outstanding, a Western-based strategic mining partner holding over 8%, and a land package exceeding 3,000 square kilometers along the Borschko-Chinggis magmatic arc.
Arras Minerals is drilling three porphyry copper-gold centers in northeastern Kazakhstan — North, Central, and East Breski — with ~30 holes pending. Klinck argues Kazakhstan's low operating costs ($110/m drilling, 50¢/L diesel, $2.10/kWh power) make sub-0.5% Cu grades economic. Arras closed a $25M bought deal about two months ago, with management saying the cash extends the runway into late next year. Klinck positions Arras on the Borschko Chinggis magmatic arc — adjacent to the low-cost Boshakal copper mine — with a 3,000+ sq km land package. Drill meters scaled 4,000 → 10,000 → 40,000 across recent years, with ~38 holes reported and ~30 assays still pending.
