Dan Earle

President & CEO | Highlander Silver | Former Solaris Resources CEO who built the Warintza copper discovery in Ecuador

"Built Solaris Resources' Warintza copper discovery in Ecuador into a billion-dollar junior; now leads Highlander Silver."

Mining Executive

Biography

Daniel (Dan) Earle is a mining executive with more than 17 years in the minerals industry and capital markets, and he is currently President & CEO of Highlander Silver, a company assembling high-grade silver-gold projects in the Americas. Resource investors know him best as the CEO who built Solaris Resources around the Warintza copper discovery in southeastern Ecuador, turning a little-known optioned concession into one of the largest copper projects held by a junior company (a junior being a small exploration or development firm). Anyone tracking copper or silver juniors has a direct interest in how he picks projects and pays for them.

As President & CEO of Solaris Resources from 2020 to 2025, Earle ran the drill campaign at Warintza that produced some of the longest mineralized intercepts in the industry — including 1,002 metres at 0.55% copper-equivalent (a blended grade that converts the gold, silver and molybdenum in a deposit into copper terms). During his tenure the project grew into the top tier of junior-held copper resources in the Americas, the company signed investment contracts with the government of Ecuador, and its market value briefly topped C$1 billion. He also served as a director of the Augusta Group, the mining venture house behind several billion-dollar exits, including Arizona Mining's Taylor zinc-lead-silver deposit, sold to South32 for US$1.3 billion in 2018. His Solaris run ended in 2025, after McEwen Mining took a large strategic stake and Rob McEwen moved into the executive chairman role.

His method is consistent: secure scale early and cheaply, prove it fast, and never let the story run ahead of the drill results. At Solaris that meant optioning Warintza — acquiring the right to buy the property through staged payments — for a modest sum, then spending heavily on step-out drilling (holes outside known mineralization that test how big a system is) so that resource growth, not promotion, moved the share price. He is a copper bull on the record, arguing on Palisades Gold Radio that prices could reach multiples of previous cycle highs as new supply struggles to keep up with demand. His episode of EarthLabs' Digging for Dollars series, "The Game Has Changed," addressed the other half of the job: how junior miners actually raise capital when markets tighten.

At Highlander Silver he is applying the same model to silver, anchored by the high-grade San Luis gold-silver project in Peru. For investors, Earle is worth following less as a pundit than as a working example of the junior model: which projects attract financing, which jurisdictions are opening up — Ecuador's mining revival and Peru's high-grade districts among them — and what it takes to keep a drill program funded through a full market cycle.
