Charles Cryer
CEO | Oroco Resource Corp. | Copper developer with field and capital markets depth
"Operational CEO bridging field engineering and natural resources capital markets"
Biography
Charles Cryer is the CEO and Director of Oroco Resource Corp. (TSX-V: OCO; OTCQB: ORRCF), the operator advancing the Santo Tomás porphyry copper-gold project in Sinaloa, Mexico. He is the voice investors hear when Oroco makes the case that the current copper supply crunch is structural rather than cyclical, and that the gap between future demand and new mine supply will widen rather than close.
Appointed CEO and Director effective June 16, 2026, Cryer brought more than 30 years of combined operating and capital markets experience to Oroco. His career began as an exploration and field engineer, working on the ground at resource projects, before moving into investment banking, where he spent decades covering natural resources and emerging markets.
At Oroco his mandate is to advance Santo Tomás toward a pre-feasibility study while positioning the broader district for transaction. His public thesis, articulated in interviews on The Deep Dive and the Critical Minerals Deep Dive, is that copper supply cannot keep pace with demand driven by electrification, grid build-out, and the reshoring of smelting, because grades at the major producing mines are declining, permitting timelines are long, and few tier-one discoveries are being made to replace them.
For a mining stock investor, Cryer is worth following because he operates fluently in two registers, the technical language of a field engineer and the financial language of an investment banker. That dual lens shapes how Oroco evaluates development optionality, capital structure, and the timing of milestones, and it is the reason his commentary tends to focus less on price and more on the supply curve.
