Alex Heath
CEO and Director | Great Pacific Gold Corp | Junior mining finance executive
"CEO of Great Pacific Gold (GPAC); 20+ years in mining finance across investment banking, corporate development, and junior-explorer leadership."
Biography
Alex Heath is Chief Executive Officer and Director of Great Pacific Gold Corp (TSXV: GPAC; OTCQX: GPGCF), a junior mineral explorer advancing gold and copper projects in Papua New Guinea and British Columbia. He moved into the CEO role on August 1, 2026, after joining the company as Chief Financial Officer in July 2025 and being elected to the board at the June 2026 annual general meeting. For a resource investor, what makes him worth tracking is the corporate-finance lens he brings to a junior explorer: every prior role has sat on the capital-raising side of the small-cap resource sector, which is where discovery stories either get funded or quietly die.
Before Great Pacific Gold, Heath served as Interim CFO and Senior Vice President of Corporate Development at Defense Metals Corp, a Canadian developer focused on rare earth elements. He was previously President and CEO of Prospector Metals Corp, giving him direct operating experience leading a junior explorer. He currently chairs the audit committee at Asante Gold, a Ghana-focused gold producer, and co-founded Chestnut Creek Capital Corp, a private investment vehicle.
His approach sits at the financing interface of the junior mining sector. He has worked for more than twenty years across investment banking, corporate development, and investor relations, and his time at Defense Metals and Prospector Metals in particular exposes him to the deal mechanics, raise structures, and consolidation patterns that drive outcomes for resource equities. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, earned the ICD.D (Institute of Corporate Directors, Director designation) through the University of Toronto's Rotman Directors Education Program, and earlier completed a BCom (Honours) at the UBC Sauder School of Business.
Investors following Great Pacific Gold today are tracking a junior whose portfolio includes the Wild Dog gold-copper project in Papua New Guinea — sitting in a region with established large-scale producers nearby — and recent drill results on the Kavasuki target window in British Columbia. Heath's CEO update appearances (KE Report interviews and the company's own investor materials) are a reasonable pulse check on whether GPAC is meeting its drilling milestones and stretching its treasury against the work plan.
